Gentlemen Start Your Engines........and your heaters!

Happy Valentine's Day, Sunday, beginning of the Olympics and the Nascar season. We sit here this afternoon and evening and watch the Daytona 500 with the heat turned on and just can't seem to get warm. We did plenty of starting of the engines this weekend while bundling up, so here we go....

Chris traveled to Indianapolis and worked in god awful snow at the beginning of the week and we were not sure he was going to make it home on time. He did and here is the photo of him surveying in the snow:
Not something a Florida surveyor is used to! Same day he was set to come home, my dad was coming from New York. He had a lay over in Detroit and made it to Florida as well. I have to say that on Wednesday when they were both flying the headlines were that hundreds of flights were cancelled and lots of people stranded so we felt like we dodged a bullet!

Thursday Chris and my dad went to the Twin 150's in Daytona. It was cold but they had a great time. While they were enjoying the race and Gavin was at school I spent the day making chocolate lollipops in different colors in molds for Valentine's Day for Gavin's classmates. I also made goodie bags for his teachers and cupcakes for his party. Here are some photos of the process and the final product:

This is all I made for the adults in our house:

Friday morning my dad and Chris did some household projects for me, including putting Gavin's toddler bed together. It is together but we are not going to use it yet. Chris and I are just not ready for it. He might be but we are not. Friday afternoon my dad and I attended Gavin's Valentine's party at StarChild. It was so much fun and we had all kinds go goodies to enjoy, including lots and lots of sweets. Here are the photos:

From there we headed down to my sisters. I was dropping my dad and Gavin off to spend the night. Chris and I had plans to go to dinner with some friends so the family was watching Gavin overnight for us. We went to Season's 52 and had a blast. I just love the atmosphere and the food is just fabulous. Here are a few photos that really did not come out very well because the place was dark:

Let's not forget the dessert, which is the best part:

Saturday morning we actually got to sleep in. In our own bed in our own house. We missed Gavin terribly, however, we did not miss the 5 a.m. wake up time that is the norm in our house. Funny thing is that Gavin ended up sleeping until 7 a,m. over at my sisters. Go figure. Saturday afternoon my dad and Shelby drove over and brought Gavin back. From there Shelby and I took Gavin to a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese for our friend Madison. Lots of fun was had by all. Here are the photos:

Next, we were off to Osaka. A Japanese restaurant in Lake Mary. It was Shelby, my dad, Chris, Gavin and I. It was as good as it always is. Here are a few shots:

Sunday morning Chris took my dad back to Daytona to meet his friends, Shelby headed home and we had a nice relaxing family day. When I say relax, I mean Gavin did not get out of his jammies until 3 p.m. The kind of day that we never ever get to enjoy. It could not have been a better Valentine's Day!

So here we are, Sunday night, getting ready to have a nice family dinner then early to bed. Chris leaves for Pensacola and Alabama tomorrow and I have the day off with Gavin. For once in my life I have no plans. Kind of excited about that.

So what is Gavin up to this week? Dancing dancing dancing. He throws the shoulders and it is so funny. The sentences are getting better and better and he has been doing a lot of loving on the dog. He likes giving him treats, bossing him around and hugging him. We have to watch because he likes to pull his tail. Gavin also is now sitting at the bar to eat his meals on the high barstool on his todder chair. Here is a photo:

Chase gets his nose up near his food Gavin swats at him and tells him "no Chase no". At school this week they have told me that Gavin knows all of his colors in Japanese. As wonderful as that is, I would not even know it if he was saying them as I don't know Japanese. Regardless, they keep telling me how incredibly intelligent he is and of course every parent loves to hear that. Today I caught Gavin doing this:

This week in Florida it should still be very cold. We sure are going to be happy to have the warm weather back!

Everyone have a great week and here is a video of Gavin throwing his shoulders:
